DVCPRO is a Panasonic format using a 6.35mm wide metal particle digital tape. The cassettes are available in two sizes, small for use in palm camcorders and small edit decks and large for use in on-shoulder camcorders and edit machines.
There are many different factors which attribute to each format of tape; some of the most fundamental areas to consider are:
- Recording in DVCPRO50 format gives a recording time half that shown on the cassette.
- AJ-HP126EXG cassette tapes can only be used in a VTR's supporting the DVCPRO HD-LP format.
- AJ-5P92LP cassette tapes can only be used in VTR's supporting the DVCPRO 25 format - 184 minute tapes.
