Digital Betacam is a Sony format used in high quality digital recording, post production and transmission. The tape uses ultra fine magnetic particles with high performance binder to give increased output, and has a specially-developed lubricant which increases head contact whilst reducing wear.

Digital Betacam tapes have superior life time playback reliability and are suitable for archive storage owing to the low shrinkage properties. The cassettes are available in two sizes; small for use in camcorders and large for use in edit machines.
