The Professional Disc is Sony's name for the optical disk media for XDCAM. The media has many advantages over tape allowing work to be carried out from acquisition, editing, play and storage. The disc is single-sided and uses blue violet laser technology.
DVCPRO P2 Computer Use
The P2 format was developed by Panasonic. It enables work to be carried out from acquisition, edit, play and storage. It is a solid state media card with no mechanisms or moving parts and can easily be slotted into most laptops for non linear editing.
