Sony PMW-EX1 (PMWEX1) XDCAM EX Solid State HD Camcorder
The Sony PMW-EX1recorder/camcorder is the 1st camcorder in the XDCAM-EX range that takes advantage of the new media card format, the SxS ExpressCard. Designed specifically to make the most of the ultimate high performance of SxS PRO memory cards, the PMW-EX1 combines a state-of-the-art, non-linear XDCAM workflow with the best HD quality yet seen in a compact camcorder. It is also the first handheld camcorder to carry the legendary CineAlta 24P brand with multiple frame rate recording capability such as 59.94i, 50i, and native 23.98P, as well as being 1080i/720P switchable.
The PMW-EX1 utilises the three ½” CMOS sensors, each with a full HD 1920 x 1080 pixel count. Adding to the new high quality sensors is the purpose built Fujinon 14times ½” Lens with a dual focus mechanism. These features combine to create stunning picture quality with excellent depth of field and sensitivity characteristics.
The PMW-EX1 gives you the flexibility of recording in 1080P, 1080i and 720P HD formats and at 35 Mb/s or a 25 Mb/s mode creating a unique solution for all environments and markets.
With many innovative and exciting features, the PMW-EX1 has under cranking and over cranking (slow and fast motion) to create unique effects, selectable gamma curves and the improved workflow that the memory cards create. There is a new shutter setting emulating filmic operation, Cine Gamma curves offer further filmic options in post production and the frame and interval recording gives further creative scope for animation and extremely quick motion effects.
To maximise the recording time, Sony has given the PMW-EX1 2 memory card slots meaning that you can record 140mins of HD footage with 2 x 16GB cards. Once footage is recorded onto the SxS cards, a thumbnail is created so reviewing recorded footage has never been easier.
