JVC's PROHD uses the 720 Progressive HDV Format. They are the first manufacturer to offer low cost, on-shoulder high definition camcorders with interchangeable lenses.
Long Life Battery Cameras
The camcorders available have sturdy die cast magnesium bodies and all offer professional battery mounting that provide long running times and can power additional items like on board lights. All the camcorders in the range are 4:3, 16:9 Switchable and can record in Standard DV Mode for compatibility in existing SD environments.
Multiple HDV Formats
The HDV 720P Format records MPEG-2 High Definition Video onto the Standard and affordable DV tape format and has 1280 x 720 pixels. HDV has the same track pitch and tape speed as DV and therefore the tape recording times are also the same as the DV tape format. PROHD 720P is now available in 720P/24, 720P/25, 720P/30, 720P/50, 720P/60 depending upon the model of camcorder. The PROHD range has now sold in excess of 20,000 units worldwide and the sales momentum of the Progressive HDV format continues to grow.
