Sony provides professional users with a range of compact Video Tape Recorders for their HDV format. The Sony HVR-M15E was brought in to replace the HVR-M10E, supporting both DV and DVCAM formats along with HDV content. The Sony HVR-M25E gives you the ability to see as you work with an integrated 16:9 LCD monitor as well as all the functions you come to excpect from a professional VTR. The Sony HVR-1500 Professional HDV Video Tape Recorder has inherited the same design concept as the DSR-1500 but has incorporated the HDV functionality to improve flexibility.

Sony have also developed the GV-HD700E 7" HDV / DV Clamshell which is an ideal portable walkman for use in the field. Also in the HDV range is JVC's BR-HD50E which offers both DV and HDV recording for the 720P format.
