Broadcast Controllers are designed to control the Zoom and Focus of Industrial and Broadcast camera lenses from Canon and Fujinon.
Typically these lenses accept either 8 or 12 pin control connections for Zoom and are usually mechanically controlled for focus with a manual focus cable controller. Zoom and Focus Controllers are normally attached to the tripod pan bars which allow the operator to control the Zoom and Focus of the lens.
Thumb Pressure Controllers
Thumb pressure determines the speed of zoom and some controllers have a set speed dial should you wish to maintain a set speed. In addition a Zoom controller usually provides a Record Stop/Start button with a recording indicator and return video to the cameras Viewfinder.
Camera Zoom Control
Focus controllers usually connect to the outer focus ring of the lens element and operate via a twist handle cable that has a gearing assembly. Whilst an essential purchase for a Studio camera, Zoom controllers are also used on ENG tripods as they allow the operator to concentrate on the shot rather than awkwardly leaning over the camcorder to reach the lens zoom control.
Controllers are manufactured by Canon, Fujinon, Varizoom and Manfrotto to name a few
