PhotonBeard
Robert Royou Beard founded the company in 1882 making this one of the oldest lighting manufacturers in the World.
Beard, an experienced Instrument maker, designed and patented the first automatic gas pressure regulator for the new pressurised oxygen cylinders, then used with " town gas " for limelight. This was the only light source powerful enough for Victorian theatres and for the magic lantern, the forerunner of the modern projector.
The business grew and they manufactured gas control apparatus and gauges right up to the 1960s but it was in the field of entertainment lighting that Beard made their mark with Luminares, movie and still projectors. The industry has changed quite a bit since 1882, yet Photon Beard remain at the forefront of lighting technology.
