Canon CN7X17 KAS S E1 Cine Zoom Lens - EF Mount

Offers stunning 4K optical performance, 7x magnification with a 17mm-120mm focal length

The CN7x17 KAS S E1 offers stunning 4K optical performance, 7x magnification with a 17mm-120mm focal length. Featuring a servo drive unit, it’s ideal for shooting scenarios where mobility is key.

High performance, highly versatile
Using our rich heritage of optical expertise, Canon has created a lens offering outstanding quality -from image centre to image edge. The CN7x17 KAS S E1/P1 supports 4K resolution and incorporates an 11-blade diaphragm to deliver softer, more attractive out of focus areas.

Thanks to an impressive 7x zoom, with focal length spanning 17mm to 120 mm, and maximum T-number of T2.95, the CN7x17 KAS S E1/P1 may be the only lens you need. A 3-group inner focus system developed for Canon lenses reduces focus breathing to an absolute minimum. It is both weatherproof and shockproof – durable enough for every shooting environment.

Designed for broadcast shooting styles
The CN7x17 KAS S E1/P1 employs a servo drive unit, enabling use in broadcast-style shooting environments where cine lenses are impractical. Compact and lightweight, it offers comfortable on-the-shoulder shooting with the familiar feel of a typical TV zoom lens. Focus ring rotation is 180°, balancing the accuracy required for 4K imaging with the speed needed for broadcast use. High resolution encoders mean that actions are precisely repeatable, whilst fast start-up and high-speed operation ensure you never miss a moment. For tripod-based set-ups, existing Canon demand units can be used to control zoom, focus and iris. Virtual studio use is also supported thanks to a sophisticated 16-bit encoder output.

Perfect movie shoots
This lens is also ideal for movie shooting. With the drive unit removed, it can be operated like a traditional cine lens. Industry-standard accessories such as follow focus units are easily attached - 0.8 and 0.5 pitch gears are incorporated into the focus ring. Re-installation of the drive unit is simple. No adjustment of gear positions is required, enabling a fluid, versatile shooting style previously unavailable with large sensor cameras. All Cinema EOS lenses are colour-matched, ensuring easy integration with other Canon cine lenses.

Camera/Lens communication
The CN7x17 KAS S E1/P1 supports multiple lens communication methods for added versatility. Canon’s EF-mount supports lens metadata and other functions such as Peripheral Illumination Correction. A 12-pin serial connection provides an interface found in broadcast environments. Cooke /i Technology is supported in the PL-mount variant, allowing capture of lens data by cameras often used in movie shooting environments.

Key Features:

  • 4K optical performance thanks to Canon lens technology; designed for Super35mm cameras
  • Servo drive unit enables broadcast or hand-held production
  • A single lens for most shooting situations: highly versatile 17mm-120mm focal length
  • Rugged build quality for assured performance in all environments; weatherproof and shockproof
  • Designed with users in mind for a familiar and intuitive experience
  • Compatible with accessories typically used in broadcast and movie environments
  • Extensive lens communication options (12-pin, EF, Cooke /i) support a range of production styles

Canon European Warranty System Information

In the event that a Canon product develops a fault, our customers are covered by the Canon European Warranty System (EWS) which ensures that the fault is resolved free of charge for a limited period of time after purchase (terms and conditions apply).

Terms and Conditions
The EWS is comprised of two different service offerings and the offering that is applicable to you is determined by your location and the product you have purchased. For most Canon consumer products, a Return To Base service is offered. If a product develops a manufacturing fault during the warranty period then it must be returned to a Canon approved repair facility where it will be repaired free of charge by Canon authorised technicians. Your product will be returned to you when the repair is complete.

A: In general, there is no legal requirement for customers to register a product with Canon for EWS warranty purposes. Registering a product with Canon via Canon iD will allow us to send you targeted promotional materials and updates regarding your products. Some occasional promotional warranties may require registration with Canon, but the specific Terms & Conditions of the promotion will specify this if applicable.

Q: What information regarding warranty should I find in the box when I purchase a Canon product?
A: For European Warranty System (EWS) applicable countries, each product box will generally contain a EWS Warranty Card in the box.

Q: Is it necessary for me to complete and return any documentation to Canon in order to register my European Warranty System (EWS) warranty?
A: It is not necessary for you to return any documentation to Canon in order to register for the European Warranty System (EWS). If you wish to specifically request a warranty repair under the European Warranty System (EWS) then it will always be necessary for you to provide Canon with the original valid proof of purchase (including original date of purchase) for the product in question and, in some cases, a completed warranty card may also be required. Please refer to the specific country in question for specific requirements.

Q: What documentation is required in order to make claim a European Warranty System (EWS) warranty repair?

Q: How do I register a European Warranty System warranty for a Canon product that I have received as a gift?
A: In general, there is no legal requirement for customers to register a product with Canon for EWS warranty purposes. If you wish to specifically request a warranty repair under the European Warranty System then it will always be necessary for you to provide Canon with the original valid proof of purchase (including original date of purchase) for the product in question and, in some cases, a completed warranty card may also be required. This proof of purchase requirement (including original date of purchase) is also applicable to products received as a gift.

A: Details regarding the specific warranty offered per product will generally be contained in the product box. In general, products will be covered by a warranty that applies to their specific sales region and it will be necessary for customers to return any products to the applicable region in order to claim a warranty repair. Canon does not generally offer a global warranty unless specifically mentioned for specific products / regions.

Q: If I have bought a Canon product and I later decide to give this / sell this to someone else within the specified European Warranty System (EWS) warranty period, does this EWS warranty transfer with the product?
A: Yes, Canon products are covered by the European Warranty System (EWS) regardless of whom the actual product owner is. However the start and end date of the warranty will apply to the original purchase date and not the date of subsequent sale. If you wish to specifically request a warranty repair under the European Warranty System (EWS) then it will always be necessary for you to provide Canon with the original valid proof of purchase (including original date of purchase) for the product in question and, in some cases, a completed warranty card may also be required. Please require to the specific country in question for specific requirements.

Q: If I have bought a Canon product covered under the European Warranty System (EWS) and I travel to another country that is not covered by the EWS and the product requires repair, will I be offered a warranty repair?
A: Technically, Canon warranties are only applicable within the region in which the product has been sold and for which specific warranty details were included in the box. Canon does not generally offer a global warranty unless specifically mentioned for specific products / regions. We would always advise Canon customers to contact local Canon representatives to see what assistance is possible. In some cases it may be necessary for you to pay for any applicable repairs and to then attempt to reclaim this from Canon (this only applies if the fault repaired is covered by the terms of EWS – for example customer misuse is excluded) when you return to the European Warranty System (EWS) region. To support your claim we would always advise you to retain any applicable documentation relating to charges incurred / repairs handled.
