Canon KH16x5.7-IRSE HDgc 16x 1/2" XDCAM HD High Definition Lens

16x Zoom HDgc 1/2" XDCAM HD Lens from Canon

The Canon HDgc KH16x5.7-IRSE is a 16x lens designed for the 1/2" CCD line of XDCAM HD cameras by Sony. As HDTV becomes the standard for television broadcasts, more production facilities are looking to originate projects in high definition. A variety of formats have been introduced to fill the gap, including both HDV and XDCAM HD.

Sony's XDCAM HD cameras provides a low-cost alternative to the higher priced 2/3" cameras, while still maintaining the same familiar ENG/EFP workflow. This 1/2" lens provides high definition optics that will fully realize the capabilities of XDCAM HD, while still being cost effective for lower budget productions.

The KH16x5.7-IRSE is a perfect balance between performance and portability, equipped with features such as internal focus and shuttle-shot programmable positioning. The focal-length range is 5.7-92mm with a minimum object distance of 0.6 meters (2 feet) and comes with a 2x extender for increased telephoto capability.

High Definition Ready
Many high definition cameras are hamstrung by insufficient optics. Electronic News Gathering (ENG) lenses traditionally have been built to accommodate standard definition. This lens is designed specifically with high definition in mind. The optics increase fidelity, making sure HD footage is crystal clear.

Improved Image Quality
The lens element design greatly reduces aberrations and image distortions. These advances contribute to more balanced imaging from center to edge throughout the aperture range.

Integral 2x Extender
For instant close-up shots, the lens has a switch which inserts an element that doubles the focal length at any point in the zoom range. Instead of using the zoom function, the extender gives immediate close-up images.

Key Features:

  • Focal range 5.7~92mm (184mm with Extender)
  • MOD 0.6M (10mm with Macro)
  • Built-in 2x extender
  • Enhanced Digital Drive
  • Ecological, robust, ergonomic design
