Today Rode released the successor to the hugely popular Wireless GO system, with the Wireless GO II. The Wireless GO II still offers fantastic value for money, but also adds a few really useful improvements, over the original model. The biggest difference you'll notice is that it is now a two in one system, so you now get two transmitters, that go into one receiver, which makes the Wireless GO II a great solution for two-person interviews.
Physically, the Wireless GO II is almost identical to the original, they are the same size & weight so they're still very compact, the TX's still have a built-in mic and a 3.5mm input. They still operate on 2.4Ghz wireless, but the range has now been improved up to 200m line of sight, plus, each TX now will record audio into the unit itself, which will be a fantastic safety feature if you're using these in an environment where there may be lots of wireless interference. Rode have also released a new app, called Rode Central, which allows for control over parts of the Wireless GO II, including a safety track recording, which will record the mic's output at a lower volume to help protect against accidental clipping, which is fantastic to see.
All in all the Wireless GO II really does add some great improvements, over a system that already offered great value for money, and will likely be a go-to recommendation for anyone wanting to get started in the world of audio.
